Nafplio is a seaport town inhabited since the ancient times as shown by the remains of the pre-classical walls of Akronauplia. It was an important seaport in the Middle Ages and the capital of the First Hellenic Republic and of the Kingdom of Greece, from the start of the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. Due to the spot where it is built and its history, it is a very interesting and pleasant town to visit. One may also visit Palamidi one of the most beautiful castles in Greece and the biggest and best preserved Venetian fortress complex along with Bourgi the fortified island in front of Nafplio port.
The Archaeological site of Epidaurus includes the ancient Theatre, the Mouseum and the athletic comlex. Belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage. The Ancient Theatre is regarded as the best preserved one. Unique for its perfect acoustics, its architectural symmetry and structure. During summer performances of ancient drama, music and dance are presented here. To watch any performance is a unique experience.
The whole site of the Sanctuary of Asklepios was a celebrated healing center of the classical world. It was used as a therapeutic as well as a religious center dedicated to Asklepios, god of healing.
